Family Consultatories are social-health services that provide obstetric, gynaecological, psychological and social services aimed at primary prevention, to guarantee women's reproductive health, to promote responsible motherhood and fatherhood and to protect children.
In the Family Consultatories there is a stable team (operating module) usually composed of: midwife, gynaecologist, psychologist, social worker, nurse.
The following services are provided in the Family Advice Centres:
psychological interviews and brief psychotherapy
social talks
Pap tests
obstetric visits
gynaecological examinations for prevention programmes (cervical cancer screening, contraception promotion, women's health in childbearing and menopause)
advice on infertility and sterility
birth accompaniment meetings
advice on contraception and prescription of contraceptives
activities and counseling for voluntary termination of pregnancy
prevention activities for the well-being of adolescents
In collaboration with the Judicial Authority and the Ambiti Sociali di Zona, the advisory centres provide:
interventions for the protection of minors
prevention and care activities to combat violence, maltreatment and abuse
national and international adoption procedures
family fostering procedures
The services provided by the family advice bureau are free of charge and directly accessible (no medical prescription is required).
The family advice bureau is open to women and men, both Italian and foreign, resident or temporarily present in the territory.
In this period of the COVID 19 pandemic, the service can be accessed by telephone appointment for any kind of service.
